Areas of Special Interest
Getting Unstuck: External Obstacles and Internal Obstacles
Sometimes it’s hard to separate your self-limiting beliefs from the messages you hear in the outside world, especially if you’ve experienced trauma or discrimination. External pressures are very real and can be demoralizing, so life gets that much harder when your own thoughts keep you from finding the energy to overcome adversity. Therapy provides the right kind of support and attention to help you discover whose side you’re on, as well as who’s on your side, and then access the energy to pursue your needs and desires.
Unlocking Creative Expression
Creative expression is essential to a satisfying life, whether that creativity is expressed through art, work, or relationships. To be creative, it helps to have the flexibility to focus on the present moment, your surroundings, and your own energies. Gestalt therapy builds upon mindfulness practices to carry awareness from passivity to responsiveness and creative intention.
Relationships
Paying attention to your experiences as we interact in session, we will uncover the barriers to connection that are hidden in your habits of relating to others. Therapy will provide a safe space for you to expand your options and practice new ways of responding. This is work that can be done individually, with a partner, or with friends or family members. Couples/family therapy helps you discover, in real time, how you and your partner impact one another’s needs and wounds. Awareness of your interactions in the present gives you flexibility to heal and make your connection into a new experience.
It’s hard to move forward before you fully realize where you are.
