I’m a psychoanalyst and certified Gestalt therapist licensed in New York and Massachusetts, in addition to having my private practice registered in France. I’ve trained with many great therapists, but my experiences with my patients continue to teach me how profound and complex we are as human beings. My style of interacting may be more casual and conversational than you would expect from a clinician with a professional title as weighty as “psychoanalyst,” but I see healing as a natural process that works better when you and I are in touch with our essential humanity. I incorporate a holistic somatic approach, looking at how your head, your heart, and your gut work to support each other–or don’t. In sessions, the goal isn’t to explain why you do what you do, as much as explore how you do your life and experiment with what else you might try. These explorations include the typical talking, as well as movement, dialogue, vocalizations, and sometimes creative experiments, like drawing. We may even look at nutrition and sleep patterns. I am responding to you as a whole person, in a complex situation.

My goal is to help you develop the parts of you that have been ignored, which generally leads to greater satisfaction and peace. Some of us are always stuck in our thoughts and ignore our feelings; others of us privilege our feelings and don’t know how to manage them. How you inhabit the world is unique to you and I appreciate the opportunity to get to know you and be your partner in discovering what’s missing from your awareness. I don’t use worksheets or come into the session with a specific agenda, because I’m not training you to become some false idea of a “happy” person. Instead, I’m learning, along with you, how to tune in to your authentic self. A vital part of the process is to bring your attention to the present moment, to move beyond conscious thoughts into emotion and your physical being, especially when the brain is stuck in its habits and beliefs. I pay attention to the wisdom of the body through awareness of physical sensations, and the wisdom of the psyche through dreams. Ultimately, we are continually seeking balance and integration of body, mind, spirit, and environment. It’s a journey I deeply respect and I feel fortunate to make whatever contributions I can.
